2018 Home Decor Trends To Watch

With the new year comes new trends! The predictions for the trends of what we'll be seeing in magazines, in home-renovation stores, and all over Pinterest are already stacking up. Here are a few of our favorites.

In Pinterest's year-end report, they stated there had been a 75% increase in home-centric PIns this year; and people who use Pinterest reportedly spend 27% more on decor than people who don't. ElleDecor pulled some of the top pinned items from the list and near the top is patterned plants. Not only do bedroom plants help you sleep; but they also make your room more instagram-worthy. Buy your own without even leaving the house.

Another shift we're excited to see is the interest in bolder colored sofas and furniture. "While many designers recommend keeping larger upholstered items neutral, others are seeing more clients stepping away from this rule," states mydomain.com. Statement furniture comes in all shapes and colors for 2018 and we are already seeing these options in stores

We know subway tile has been king of kitchens and bathrooms for some time now, but that time may be up. Pinterest searches for "terrazzo" were up 316% this year; and Karen Asprea of Whitehall Interiors has noticed, "a trend towards using larger format tile and even slab sized porcelain sheets. The shift is not only aesthetic, but one of function, as larger tile has less grout and is both easier to install and maintain."

Finally, one trend we're really excited for is the surge in artisan and handmade art. With websites like Etsy it has never been easier to buy handmade crafts and goods. Plus, ordering something directly from the artist often means getting one-of-a-kind pieces that span from pottery, pillows, home decor and art prints, to even handmade furniture
